You are invited to Dragonslayer, where Montengarde’s Heavy and Archery Champions are chosen. The event is a two day event beginning Saturday July 20 at 9 AM and ending on Sunday at 5 PM. THERE IS NO CAMPING ONSITE at the Balzac Community Hall. Enjoy a weekend away from the smoke, angry badgers and itchy bugs! There will be fighting and smiting, archery, TUA classes, Helga ball, Tablero, merchants, “Captain, Ship, Crew”, Bardic, Prize Tourneys for all major activities and more. Archery is indoors at Archery World and is included in the site fee. We will be holding a potluck feast, but it’s not just ANY potluck. Your challenge: bring the food that you’ve always wished Feast Stewards would serve! Please bring your own heating and serving supplies, as well as a list of ingredients for allergies.

We are looking for merchants. We want to buy your stuff!! There is no merchanting fee.

For questions, please contact Baroness Adis or Co-steward Sigfuss Thorwulfsson at events@montengarde.org.

Dragonslayer Champion:

Here ye! Here ye!

I have fought the dragon long and hard over the past year, I grow weary and need a rest. I held it back as long as I could using strong steel, tenacity, and cunning tactics. However, the Dragon has started cheating, for it has enchanted the warriors of this land to defend it. For such fierce defense, I sadly have no answer.

Let it be known that I am stepping aside, so another warrior that is more fierce, more cunning, and! willing to cut down their former allies can take up the mantle of Dragon Slayer and keep this land safe once again.

Know that this will be no small task, as you will face the fiercest warriors this land has to offer in order to succeed. So come steel your heart against what needs to be done and take up the Dragon Slayers mantle from me.

Lordship Martin McDuff.

“Ballads” (Sunday 1pm- 3pm)
by Master Thorvald
First portion would be a simple introduction to the European ballad, a common narrative song style appearing in most countries, with extra reading material. Academics are certain that ballads were sung in the Middle Ages, though few words were collected until post 1600, and even fewer melodies. So ballads fall into a “period but seldom provably so” category. In the rest of the class I would sing some of the ballads in my repertoire.
